Tony Award-winning Broadway musical “The Book of Mormon” is headed for Louisville.
PNC Broadway in Louisville announced Wednesday that it will include the musical by “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone as part of the 2013-14 season. No dates have been announced, only that the number of performances will be limited. Subscribers to this season’s Broadway series will be entitled to purchase the first tickets offered for the run.
The musical swept the 2011 Tony Awards, winning in nine categories, including best musical, best book and best score. It is a satire about two Mormon missionaries’ attempts to convert people in a northern Ugandan village.
The PNC Broadway series’ current season includes “Flashdance,” “Memphis,” “Million Dollar Quartet” and “West Side Story.”
