In high school, my best friend lived on Belmar Drive, right near Poplar Level Road. Once I got a car, I drove in that area regularly, taking her home from school, picking her up to go shopping or for a night out.
I must have driven by Frolio's Pizza a million times, but for some reason I never stopped. Driving in that area recently, I decided to give it a try.
I took a different friend with me to sample the pie, and I was greeted by a homey little Italian family restaurant, complete with murals of scenes from Venice. The rest of the décor was simple and even dated, but the service was friendly and fast.
We started with the toasted ravioli ($5.25), which were delicious. I haven't met a toasted ravioli I didn't like, so it would be hard to mess it up. It was served with a delicious marinara sauce, which wasn't sweet, and that's how I like it.
We ordered a medium Frolio's Around the World special ($17.50), which is a pizza with hamburger, sausage, pepperoni, ham, salami, mushrooms, onion, green peppers and green olives, though we had them hold the olives.
The pie was not at all what I was expecting. The crust was thin and crispy, and the toppings were piled on beneath the cheese. The abundance of toppings made the pizza pretty filling, though I usually prefer a thick, chewy crust. My only real complaint is that the beef and sausage were pellets, not in-house cooked beef or sausage. That was disappointing.
If Frolio's would bring in real meat, it has potential to make great pizza for crispy crust lovers. You can check out the pie at a lunch buffet ($7) 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
With water, our bill came to $24.12, and we left a $6 tip.

It's pretty clear that the same person wrote the above reviews. I hope Frolio's isn't reviewing itself.
