I cannot even speculate on the origin of the good reviews posted here. We ordered take out. Six small but tasty dumplings were nicely browned outside, moist and tender inside. Down hill like a sled on ice from there. The only flavor emanating from the teriyaki chicken was raw ginger. I really like ginger, but this was overwhelming; it left sort of a cleaning product-type aftertaste. I made it through about four bites. It came with a side of stir-fried spinach, which turned out, without warning, to be steamed carrots and broccoli soaked in something sweet-ish. The scallops were actually slices of scallops, possibly as many as three-- not bad, not great. Came with polenta -- think Burger King selling "Polenta Stix". Six pieces of vegetarian sushi, okay, on par with Kroger deli. The salad was a couple of tablespoons of chopped iceberg with a shred of carrot. Total cost of food , which considering serving size, was not excessive for two adults, 44.50. With so many other places around to eat really good food for $45, we will never be back.

The first time I ate sushi I was living in Atlanta, Georgia. The restaurant was vary nice & expensive. I never thought I would have liked it but ended up loving it. I moved to Louisville about 6 years ago. I have eaten sushi from several restaurants & was starting to think I just went to one great restaurant. I was going to give up on eating sushi all together with all the bad tastes left in my mouth from other restaurants. I heard the name "Sake Blue" from several people but neglected to go because every other place was also recommended. I happened to be in the area and saw the sign "Sake Blue". I called my fiance & asked her if she would like to try Sake Blue sushi. She said yes. She likes her sushi fried and she likes the California Roll. So I ordered the LA Crunch. It is a fried California Roll with white and sweet soy sauce. I was only going to try one peace of her sushi because I did not want to be disappointed again. I ended up eating half of her sushi roll that was cut into 8 peaces. I don't know if it has been so long sense I have had good sushi or maybe just maybe this is the best sushi I have ever had! WOW! I can't wait to have time to get some of that delicious sushi!

I have been to Sake Blue many times since it first opened and have nothing but GREAT things to say about it. I have read reviews from others about slightly higher prices or slow service, but I can see the value of both of those. The food is definitely superior, the ambience and decor is unmatched, even with restaurants in other genres, and the service is that of a European dining experience, which I thoroughly appreciate. There are too many people who are spoiled and their dining experience is ruined by the smallest thing. But Sake Blue is great and very deserving of nothing but positive marks. It is the gem of Louisville.

I had dinner at Sake Blue last week and was very impressed. Very comfortable, relaxing music, and the sushi is SO good. I eat sushi all the time. They have a great variety of new and interesting sushi rolls... each one I tasted was better than the last. The salad has a brand-new taste and I had some sort of appetizer... VERY spicy baby lobster, SO GOOD.
Great place to bring friends, order a bunch of different rolls and pass them around... just writing about it makes me want to go back RIGHT NOW! check it out.
Report This ReviewMy husband and I eat at Sake Blue at least once a week. The sushi and entrees are always superb. Service can tend to be slow if the restaurant is crowded, but we have even seen Chef Jack working the sushi bar when needed. We mostly sit at the sushi bar and are always treated with something special from one of the sushi chefs. Since Sake Blue has opened, we have not gone to another Japanese restaurant in the Louisville area - and do not plan to!!
Report This ReviewWe love Sake Blue. We've eaten there just about once a week since it opened. The sushi is the best I've ever had and my husband and I have eaten a lot of sushi around town and other locations. It's so fresh and flavorful. We've had a couple of less then perfect service issues, mainly when it first opened, but that's to be expected. It's so nice to have a nice, non-chain restaurant that is a little more upscale. I'm tired of spending my money on Hurstbourne. For those of us south of the freeway on Bardstown Road, our dining choices are limited and Sake Blue is fantastic. We've never been disappointed by the food. The sake blue is recommended, as well as the blue coral, the 502 special and the crunch munch. The sesame salad is very good. We've only eaten at the grill once, but it was certainly comparable to any other hibachi grill.

We were very excited to try a new place in town when we went to Sake Blue last Friday. From the moment we walked in the door I knew it was going to be trouble. We made reservations for 4 for the hibachi grill and they didnt have our party down so we had to wait to be seated. When it was time to eat, the woman sitting next to me pointed out a hair in the rice the chef was cooking. Instead of starting over with new rice, he plucked out the hair and continued to cook and serve the old rice. It was my friend's birthday so we paid extra for a piece of cake, a birthday song and a picture. Well we never got the picture because apparently the printer didnt work but they promised to email it to us. We never got the email. Then to top it off, I guess the waitress thought she deserved more for a tip and decided to tack on a few extra dollars to my debit card. Well my advice to such crappy service is to NOT go to Sake Blue in Fern Creek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went with a friend to Sake Blue on a friday night . The food there is execellent . The habachi chef that I had was a very attractive and really threw down on the food . The sushi was very fresh and arrived to our table looking like a work of art. The only thing that i didn't like was that upon arriving we weren't seated right away it took a bit longer than it should've. The manager came and apologized and that really made a big difference. I would suggest this place to anyone that i know because i think that when it comes to an overall resteraunt this place really sets the bar very high.
