The Brewery Restaurant & Bar has reopened at 426 Baxter Ave. after a long hiatus.
The original Brewery at that location dated to 1984, but it closed about 10 years ago to allow the owners, Mike Ryan and Dan Evans, to focus on their real estate holdings in the Baxter Avenue area, they said.
Over the intervening years, Evans and Ryan leased the 426 Baxter site to operators of several different dining establishments.
The last active business on the premises was called Big Blue Country; it closed at the end of last year.
For the reopening of the Brewery, Evans and Ryan have been joined by restaurateur Kevin Daley and about 30 limited partners. The new establishment opened last week.
The restaurant has a new kitchen, a remodeled dining area and new restrooms. The antique beer coolers behind the bar have been restored, and the decor includes the wood, brass and colors of the original Brewery.
Daley, whose restaurant pedigree includes Bravo Pitino, Ramsi's and Abruzzi in Anchorage, has recruited Charles Woods to head up the kitchen.
The Brewery is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
