Oishii's special roll menu is stuffed with oversized delicacies, each more elaborate than the last. It's like sushi dreamed up in a mad scientist factory. Love a good tuna roll? “Throw six more ingredients on top and we'll talk” is Oishii's motto.

The Zen Roll ($8.95) is what I order when I can't decide what to order. It's not just another roll — it's more like three rolls all rolled into one gigantic, delicious dish. And unless I'm starving, one Oishii roll is a meal and a half, making the special menu excellent value for your dollar.

The Zen Roll starts out as a delicious spicy crab roll, complete with the delicate and crisp flavor of cucumber. Sounds simple enough, until you consider the toppings: a sizable slab of yellowtail stacked with slices of avocado, drizzled with a generous amount of zingy mayonnaise sauce and sprinkled with minced green onion. Then (as if that's not enough!) the roll is finished with a coat of roe.

All that is missing is instant enlightenment.
