Several Louisville restaurants are participating in the James Beard Foundation’s Taste America Local Dish Challenge, a social media competition and fundraiser.
Decca, Proof on Main, Ramsi’s, Seviche and Varanese are all serving a Taste America Local Dish. One dollar from each dish sold will be donated to the Taste America education drive.
Diners who order the dish are encouraged to snap a photo and share it on Instagram using #JBFTasteamerica and #Louisville. The city with the most posts will win at least $10,000 donated to a local food charity. Louisville’s choice is the Food Literacy Project.
Levon Wallace of Proof says he’s serving Marksbury chicken, crispy confit leg and cucumbers in a warm panzanella with Blue Dog bread. “It’s ... kind of a soulful comfort dish, and literally everything on the dish comes from Kentucky, if not Louisville,” he says.
