Green Day
May 19, 2009
With their last LP, "American Idiot," Green Day achieved the impossible: a critically acclaimed and commercially successful punk rock-opera. Now, with their new record, "21st Century Breakdown," the East Bay boys are at it again. The story line's different (it follows a young couple) and the music's closer to power pop than punk. But lead single "Know Your Enemy" has hit with radio and all signs point to another best-seller that pleases nearly everyone. This intimate show at New York's Webster Hall was part of "The List" concert series presented by MySpace Music and kicked off the band's first live dates in over three years. Two sets highlighted the lion's share of "Breakdown" (growing on us!) and hits like "Basketcase," "Minority" and "American Idiot."
