Bissa, Fatoumata Diawara. Diawara shimmers gently but brightly on this percolating acoustic number from her gorgeous debut, Fatou.
Politiki, Ba Cissoko. The Guinean-born kora master and his band sustain a funky, fluid groove on this ebullient number from Nimissa.
Bluechacha, Manuel Galban with Eric Bibb. The late Cuban guitarist and guest Bibb get the blues, happily, on this breezy, sexy track from Blue Cha Cha.
Circles Aroundthe Sun, Dispatch. Tender questions lurk beneath this hard-driving new single, the title track of an upcoming album (due Aug. 21).
Birmingham, Shovels & Rope. Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent's whiskey-kissed harmonies ache and soar on this cut from O' Be Joyful.
It Hurts MeSo Much, Leela James. The soul singer pines with grace and fire on this cover from her Etta James tribute, Loving You More….
Strawberry Road,Sam Phillips. A remastered edition of Phillips' 1994 classic Martinis & Bikinis includes old and new versions of this dusky gem.
Fathers And Sons,Bob Gunton. The 1978 Broadway cast album for Working, now available digitally, includes this Stephen Schwartz ballad.
