This dreamy duet concept - their first full-blown reunion since an up-and-coming Crowell sang with Harris' Hot Band in the mid-'70s - succeeds as much on the strength of the material as it does the blending of her assertive pipes with his sweeter, more malleable ones.

On Old Yellow Moon (* * * 1/2 out of four), four appealing Crowell originals, highlighted by the resigned Open Season on My Heart, join a batch of simpatico covers.

Among the notable covers are Dreaming My Dreams (popularized by Waylon) and Matraca Berg's Back When We Were Beautiful, both of which are gracefully sad.

Producer Brian Ahern brings in Vince Gill for some honky-tonk harmonies, but wisely lets the sound of the principals' longtime friendship find its natural path.
