New Forecastle headliner: Smashing Pumpkins

Smashing Pumpkins -- which ruled the '90s alt-rock scene -- will be the Saturday headliner at Forecastle Festival. The Pumpkins' lineup includes only singer/guitarist Billy Corgan from the original iconic lineup circa 1993's "Siamese Dream," the band's first commercially successful album. The newest release, "Teargarden by Kaleidyscore," which the band is basically releasing in spurts.

Here's from the press release:

The Forecastle Festival and Nederlander Entertainment are pleased to announce the completion of this year’s festival lineup with the addition of two-time Grammy Award winning alt-rockers Smashing Pumpkins as Saturday night’s headlining act. Modern English and Scott Miller and the Commonwealth round out the acts on this year’s festival. The 2010 Festival will take place July 9th – 11th across Louisville’s 74-acre Waterfront Park.

The music lineup will combine over (100) bands, including Smashing Pumpkins, who will headline Saturday night. Other performers include The Flaming Lips, Widespread Panic, Spoon, DEVO, CAKE, She & Him, Drive-by Truckers, Bassnectar, Umphrey’s McGee, Against Me!, Minus the Bear, Manchester Orchestra, a reunited Cap ‘n Jazz, and rare daily / nightly performances by “Cirque Berzerk” – a Los-Angeles based circus extravaganza combining aerial acrobatics and French burlesque with punk rock influences.

The art and activism line-ups have also been revealed, and will feature San Francisco-based Sustainable Living Roadshow, Patagonia Footwear Film Pavilion, Outdoor Extreme Sports Park, SPROUTS “Rock and Relax” children’s zone, outdoor industry product demos, renewable energy showcase, green marketplace, conscious carnival, educational panels, speakers, workshops, and environmental art installations from renowned sculptors Leticia Bajuyo, Joyce Ogden, and Todd C. Smith.
