Jim James to play Rud show
My new colleague Erin Keane just got this interesting tidbit from Ray Rizzo, who is organizing Motherlodge shows to celebrate The Rud's 25th birthday:
My Morning Jacket's Jim James will play a solo set at The Rudyard Kipling on Oct. 1 (Thursday), part of a three-day celebration of The Rud's 25 years on this Earth. The Jacket is on a siesta after a busy 2008 supporting the album "Evil Urges," but Jim isn't doing much resting, it seems. Jim's side project Monsters of Folk just released its self-titled debut album (a pretty good one, at that, particularly Jim's parts), and this summer Jim released a solo tribute to the late Beatle George Harrison. On a side note, Monsters of Folk play Oct. 31 at the Palace Theater.
Here's info on the Oct. 1 show from motherlodge.com: "Thurs. Oct. 1 - The Rudyard Kipling Hosts Benefit Show and Auction for Center Of Hope Kitchen - $20 for dinner, show and auction, $15 for show and auction. Hosted By John Gage. 7:00 Reception / buffet dinner, 7:30 Shelby Park Soul Stew/John Gage, 8:15 Brigid Kaelin and guests, 9:00 - John Gage, 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Auction and more..."
