Widespread Panic, the Black Crowes and others will play the eighth Forecastle Festival, organizers announced this morning. The Avett Brothers and the Black Keys are also on the bill.

Widespread Panic -- an Athens, Ga.-based jam band with a diehard following that fits well into Forecastle’s hippie ethos – will play two nights of the festival, which runs July 10-12 at the Belvedere. Southern rock mainstays the Black Crowes are still supporting their 2008 album, “War Paint.”

The Avett Brothers are scheduled to release a new record “I and Love and You” weeks after the festival appearance. Dan Auerbach, frontman of the bluesy garage rock duo the Black Keys, last month released his solo debut “Keep It Hid.”
