Snake charmers

Snake Eyed Savior is a heavy new band featuring three members of My Own Victim, one of the biggest metal/hardcore bands to come out of Louisville in the 1990s. Vic Hillerich (vocals), Jeff Toy (guitar) and Todd Conn (bass) still sound like they want to break someone’s skull.

They’ve been joined by Jason Williams (guitar) and Jason Lakes (drums) and make their live debut Saturday at Shooter’s, 7092 Distribution Road in the mighty South End (9 p.m., $6 for 21 and older; $8 for 18-20). Also performing are Christine, Thomas Medicine and Screwface.

Snake Eyed Savior, which has three songs from its demo posted on MySpace, will also appear on an upcoming Kinghorse tribute being put together by Louisville Lip Records.

Short takes

  • Mic Harrison, formerly of The V-Roys and Superdrag, performs with his band The High Score Saturday at Zazoo’s, 102 Bauer Ave. (10:30 p.m., $5). Harrison has a new record, “On the Right Side of the Grass,” and an undying loyalty to rock ‘n’ roll. Off The Record will open at 7:30.
  • Brooklyn’s Lucinda Black Bear is loved by the folks over at National Public Radio. “ ‘Capo my heart’ and other bear songs,” was selected as one of the most innovative albums of 2007 by “All Songs Considered” and NPR also named LBB one of the year’s Top Ten Great Unknown Bands. They perform Friday at the Rudyard Kipling, 422 W. Oak St., with Kaiser Cartel (7:30 p.m., $5).
  • Tarbox Ramblers are led by Michael Tarbox, a man who by all accounts spends his days being chased by demons and the ghosts of hillbilly pickers. He without doubt sounds haunted when covering Kentuckian Dock Boggs’ “Country Blues,” which also channels R. L. Burnside. They perform Friday at Air Devils Inn, 2802 Taylorsville Road (10 p.m., $5).
  • Another Brooklyn band, the experimental Dynasty Electric, is coming to Louisville to get its butt kicked by the Broken Spurs Friday at the Nachbar, 969 Charles St. (10 p.m., free). Nothing against Dynasty Electric. It’s just what happens when you play with the Spurs.
