'Veronica Mars,' UPN/CW (2004-2007)
A modern day Nancy Drew, Veronica Mars starred and followed Kristen Bell as an amateur private investigator from high school to college. The first two seasons included season-long mystery arcs, with the third season featuring multiple story arcs.
Why it’s gone -- and what was its legacy: Despite surviving the UPN-WB merger into the CW’s first year, it did not make the cut for the second year, most likely because of low ratings and the changing face of the network. A possible movie was discussed but did not pan out. The show has a cult fan base, and often appears on entertainment lists as one of the top cult shows of all time. Reruns can be found on the Soap Network and Bell has returned to TV with Showtime's House of Lies.
