Timothy Michael Poe, the singer who wowed the America's Got Talent judges only to have his back story of battle injuries questioned, is not advancing in the competition.
He was cut from AGT on Tuesday's episode.
Poe, 35, said he was injured by a grenade in Afghanistan in 2009, but Minnesota National Guard records didn't support his story.
"I don't know that he holds up to other singers on this show at all," said judge Howie Mandel. No mention was made of the controversy because the show was taped last month in Las Vegas before the news broke.
Poe, who now lives in Texas, later told WFAA-TV in Dallas that he believed he was telling the truth but doesn't know what is real, reports AP.
