A young scientist, Victor Frankenstein (voiced by Charlie Tahan), re-animates his dead pet dog Sparky with lightning after he is hit by a car. In Tim Burton's black-and-white 3-D stop-motion, Victor's classmates use his formula for their own experiments, which create monsters that terrorize the town. Only Victor and Sparky can save the day, but only if those angry townsfolk don't get them first.
USA TODAY's Claudia Puig says * * *1/2 our of four: "Drawing on director Tim Burton's trademark fascination with the macabre, the tale is leavened with a touching sweetness and sharp wit."
