Angelina Jolie's evil turn as Maleficent has moved up on the Disney studio's batting order for next year.
Jolie's anticipated role as the evil queen from Sleeping Beauty has been moved from a July 2, 2014, release to a new date of May 30, 2014.
The move was needed to fill the spot left by the Pixar film The Good Dinosaur. Disney announced Wednesday that the prehistoric tentpole has been delayed nearly 18 months, moving the release date from the May 30, 2014, date to Nov. 25, 2015.
The shift comes after Pixar announced last month that it had fired The Good Dinosaur director Bob Peterson "midstream" during the production of the film, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Clips of the film had been shown to fans at Disney's D23 expo in August.
Peterson had co-directed the 2009 Oscar-winning movie Up and had devised the plot for The Good Dinosaur where dinosaurs never became extinct on Earth.
Meanwhile Pixar's other major movie, Finding Dory, the follow-up film to Finding Nemo, has been moved to June 17, 2016 from November 2015.
This leaves Pixar without a film for 2014.
In another announcement, Disney reps stated that the DreamWorks film The Fifth Estate would open nationwide on October 18, instead of having a limited release on October 11.
