No mystery here: The original, and still the top-rated, Crime Scene Investigation will be back this fall.

CBS announced Wednesday that CSI and the cast, which includes recent additions Ted Danson and Elisabeth Shue along with veterans George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Paul Guilfoyle, Robert David Hall and Wallace Langham, among others, has been renewed for the 2013 season.

It will make 14 seasons for the crime-solving hit, which this year has been averaging nearly 12 million viewers and winning its time slot (Wednesdays, 10 ET/PT) each week.

"CSI is synonymous with CBS, and we are so proud of the series' creative and commercial legacy and its continued success on our Network," said Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment chief, in a statement. "The writers and producers have done an amazing job evolving CSI, reinventing the show around an incredible leading man in Ted Danson, the acclaimed Elisabeth Shue and our beloved and talented core of original cast members."
