LOS ANGELES -- There's a new network in Town.
On Tuesday, Courteney Cox's wine-soaked sitcom Cougar Town will return for a fourth season. But you won't find it on ABC, where the show struggled to find an audience. Instead, it now will be searching for those viewers on TBS –- and that's just fine with Cox. "I'm so happy. It feels like a brand-new show that hasn't changed."
That lack of change, says creator Bill Lawrence, is precisely what he was going for. The cast is the same, the look is the same, and the tone – an odd mix of sex, silliness and sentiment -- is the same.
"I want fans to notice no difference," says Lawrence. The hope, he says, is that "eventually, when they're watching reruns, they can't tell the third season from what's in the fourth."
There is one major difference: Cox's Jules is now married to her neighbor Grayson, played by Josh Hopkins. Oh, and there's another difference, says Cox: She's declared this the Year of Her Cleavage.
"I'm getting older, and the plan is less focus on the face. I'm focusing here (pointing to her chest). By the time I'm much older, I'll be absolutely nude."
There is one more change, but it's one you won't see on screen. Busy Philipps, who plays Laurie, is pregnant in real life -- but the show will hide her pregnancy. "Travis," she says, "did not knock Laurie up."
