Fox has ordered a pilot for a new crime drama that has some top talent behind the camera.
Ben Affleck, director of the Oscar-winning Argo, will tap into his Massachusetts roots to direct The Middle Man, a drama set in 1960s Boston that follows the relationship between an FBI agent assigned to bring down the Mafia and his informant, an Irish-American gangster. The pair's actions inadvertently bolster the Irish-American mob.
Glenn Gordon Caron, known for his work on Moonlighting and Medium, wrote the pilot script and both men will serve as executive producers. Production of the pilot, which could lead to a TV series, is scheduled to begin in early 2014.
Two feature films directed by Affleck, Gone Baby Gone and The Town, also are set in Boston.
The Oscar-winning Affleck is a busy man. He will play Batman in the 2015 Batman-Superman movie.
