My husband proposed at Buck's. They worked with him to ensure he could get a table that would allow him to get up and down on one knee with a broken leg. Then they arranged for my whole family to be hiding in the back for a big family meal after. The whole place is filled with different white flowers. It is such a romantic and classy place to be. Food is always fantastic, and the wait staff is the best in town.

If you like well made, interesting breakfast fare, served to you by friendly people this is the place for you. Whether it's the perfect omelette or the lovely french toast with mixed berry compote I have yet to have anything short of wonderful. The staff is attentive, friendly and they know your likes (2 glasses of diet coke are usually at my table before I have a chance to sit down). They almost always have seasonal drinks (mimosa's are almost always available in a variety of flavors to fit the season) and have different twists on breakfast staples such as their hash brown casserole which I highly recommend. Overall this is my favorite breakfast place in Louisville and better than anyplace I used to frequent back in my original home of Chicago.

A group of friends and I went to Avalon Saturday night for a birthday. A few of us were early, and the hostess encouraged us to sit at the bar and wait for the rest of our party. The bartender was great! He was extremely friendly, helpful, and made several great suggestions. He also let us try several types of wine before we settled on one. Our table shared several appetizers: calamari, shrimp, and crab crepes - they were all delicious! I ordered the chicken carbonara and it was amazing! Our waiter was also extremely knowledgeable about their food and never left us unattended!

The food here is amazing but when I went yesterday, the service was definitely lacking. They weren't very busy, but only one waitress was handling all the tables. My friends and I ordered and did not receive our food for another hour. But as I mentioned, the food is great! I had the Sicilian Grill with fries and it was delicious!

I am the Director of Marketing for Graeter's here in Louisville. Thanks for the article and I did want readers to know that we do use real eggnog in our ice cream and our Bourbon Ball has actual Kentucky Bourbon in it! Obviously not enough bourbon to make you act silly, but just enough to give it a "graet" taste! Thanks again, and give it a try while eggnog lasts! It is a December seasonal flavor!

I only get to come down from Chicago for a few days a year, and this was a pleasant surprise. It was relaxed, but not overly so; it was hip, but not overly so. I don't get to go out in Louisville very often, but, when I do, this is exactly the kind of place I hope to find. Louisvillians, check this place out and frequent it with passion. This place is worth it. Not to mention, the beer selection here is probably not matched within a 200 mile radius. This is truly an ale oasis.

We wanted a late-night quick bite to eat and thought we would take a chance. For appetizers, I ordered some Mozzarella Sticks and my wife loves jalapeno Poppers so she tried an order. The food looked good when it arrived but one bite into the Mozzarella Stick proved me wrong. It was like a rock, overcooked and very breaded. The odd thing was that it was only luke-warm. My wife said the Poppers were a disappointment, and also not very hot. The waitress was nice and offered to replace the Mozzarella Sticks but I was ready for something else. My wife ate about half her Poppers. I decided on a Fish Sandwich and my wife ordered the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich. Again, the food looked really good but both entrees were not hot. My fish sandwich was a little too fishy for me. My wife said some of her sandwich was good but on the tough side with gristle. Since we were there late in the evening, the night-time crowd started pouring in around 10pm. We both got the impression that this was more of a bar than a grill so we wouldn't recommend it for anything other than drinks. My wife was ready to go as the music and the profanity got louder.

My girlfriend and I have been going her for a little over a year. It's a really fun place to hang out. Some of the karoke you'll find anywhere and really cheap strong drinks! The only problem I have with the place, is it seems to be full of thieves! Over the past year my girlfriend and I have had two cell phones stolen there. Her purse was just stolen this past weekend. Great place to hang out but just make sure your personal belongings are chained to you.

I like the article, except for that glaring omission: Winemakers' Supply out on Westport Rd. I've shopped there for much of my needs, though I'll say it's not often that I drive that far when Paul's shop is so close. If nothing else, the article does further illustrate the growing trend among local beer enthusiasts of brewing their own.

The customer service at El Mundos is awful. I could understand a bad experience one time, but I have been treated rudely several times. I'll take my money elsewhere.

LSHess wrote about Akiko's
To celebrate the birthdays of two close friends, several of my friends and I decided to patronize Akiko's. We were very excited to sing our songs and gave them to the DJ. As we patiently waited to sing, we joined in the merrymaking and cheered the other patrons. However, two hours passed as we witnessed several of the same customers repeatedly sing songs. Finally, my friend and I heard our names called to sing. We went up to the stage, but were informed by a woman who had already sung that it wasn't our turn. I complained to the DJ that we had waited two hours to sing our song. When he asked what my name was, I informed him that it no longer mattered and waiting two hours to sing at a karaoke bar was ridiculous. My friends and I left Akiko's. I lodged a complaint with the BBB based on extremely poor customer service. This is not the first time that I have had a bad experience at Akiko's, but it will be the last.

Well i gave the place a 2 month break..... and guess what? Still sucks! I went last Friday night, new bartenders, new bouncers... what a joke. Maybe 30-40 people in the whole place, talked to one of the bouncers, he said that the owner's wife still running customers off, and firing people left and right. I guess my days are over for this place. I also spoke with some others.... place is a joke. Don't waste your time. On Saturday unless you are under 30, don't waste your time either. Place has changed big time. I won't EVER be back!

Group of us friends from church had reserved a room for our lunch together. The room was the Atrium, tables dressed with linens and room warmed up since it was a chilly day was greatly appreciated. The quiche was so dry, if could be flaked off and contained no taste whatsoever. I did recognize a FEW tiny pieces of what could have been ham and turkey in the bottom of the dish. The potatoes were o.k. covered with ketchup and fruit cup fine. What a disappointing lunch for $10.!

Went to this restaurant Friday evening to celebrate my sister's birthday and found it permanently closed with a sign on the door saying "boombazz's" would be opening there soon. Very disappointed in this after driving down from Southern Indiana and also having purchased a "Just Pay 1/2" certificate from WAVE 3. How embarrassing not to mention the almost $30.00 I am out plus gas expenses. Any suggestions on recouping my losses?
