Local Craft Breweries
Craft breweries in Louisville offer more taste in beer
October 2, 2008
Bluegrass Brewing Company
3929 Shelbyville Road -
Louisville
This neighborhood microbrewery is sure to please with ten in-house brews always on tap. Seasonal offerings are rotated in to mix things up a bit. Spacious and family friendly, with alfresco dining and live Bluegrass every Wednesday, the BBC is a good time for locals and visitors alike. Watch the big game on one of the many TVs, play darts, or even set up a tour of the brewery. Enjoy happy hour 3-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and don't forget to sample some of the delicious pub grub.
BBC on 4th
660 S. Fourth St. -
Louisville
A great downtown locale in the Theatre Square district of Fourth Street. The vibe here is great, especially when the patio is open during the warm weather months. It is a nice place for a casual lunch or dinner and has a very laid-back, chill atmosphere.
New Albanian Brewing Company
3312 Plaza Drive -
New Albany
The New Albanian Public House offers great homemade pizza and a large selection of imported and domestic beer. The atmosphere is friendly and cozy. The service can be a little slow at times. A popular hangout for college students and professors.
BBC Taproom
636 E. Main St. - LouisvilleUnlike other BBC locations, this one doesn't serve food. Not as small as it looks on the outside, it's just a nondescript little bar to drink your beer before or after a game.
Cumberland Brews
1576 Bardstown Road - LouisvilleThough Cumberland Brews is a bit small (let's say cozy), its popularity has grown in a major way since its opening a few years ago. Known mainly for its beer, which is brewed on premises, the food is nothing to scoff at. Think burgers, soups, salads. The menu may look a little pricey considering the place is a brewpub, but the quality is definitely worth a few extra bucks.
