Cumberland Brews: User Reviews
Cumberland Brews
1576 Bardstown Road - Louisville(502) 458-8727
Cumberland has my favorite beer of all time the cream ale. They have a good variety of beers to fit all palettes. The building is a bit small but since the addition of the upstairs it can accommodate twice as many people and on a nice day people gather outside giving you a little extra room. One downside is that there are only 4 outside tables so it is first come first serve. You can’t go wrong with the food and they always have good daily specials if you cant find something on the menu you fancy (which would be hard). I would recommend this place to anyone, I always try to take people from out of town there and I’ve only had more great reviews.
On the note of price, all of the beers are available in half pints which cost less (2.25) but you still get to enjoy a great beer or you can head down for happy hour which I think they have everyday from around 5-7(I don’t know the exact times) and All day Sundays. All microbrews cost more because of the time and effort needed to put into them to make them what they are like Cumberland with only a two barrel production, mass productions is a whole lot cheaper.
Report This ReviewRed, You're off base on your beer-price complaints. So some place in Michigan where no one wants to live charges $2-$3 per pint? Have you ever been to New York or Boston? I challenge you to find a pint of decent micro-brewed beer for less than $8.
It all has to do with economies of scale. If Cumberland is charging too much, people would not buy the beer. But to say they are ripping off people for what is a decent local product just show ignorance on your part.
Maybe you should go back and have that .75-cent Bud Light at whatever watering hole you prefer.
Report This ReviewUnfortunately Cumberland Brews is the only true brewpub left. Others have either closed, gone mega corporate,or support themselves by selling other brands or liquor. These guys are the real deal with alot of different styles to choose from. On my last visit they were offering 10 different beers on tap. Not to mention a great food menu as well. 8-10 dollars on the fare and 3.25-4.25 20 oz brews, oh get this kids eat free with paying adult. A real neighborhood gem.
Report This ReviewLouisville has been suckered in by our great local beers. The beer maybe good, but the price is out of control. Hop shortage aside, local brews have no business costing 4-5 bucks a pint. Go to Bell's or any local brewhouse in Michigan and you see pints for 2-3 dollars. And this business of charging the same for a high alcohol beer and only giving a half pint is ridiculous. Cumberland has some good beers, but I find them inconstant. You can tell that a new batch has hit the tap. Sometimes it's better sometimes it's worse. The food is good and accompanies the beer well.
