There’s plenty of options for ringing in 2013

Louisville’s nightlife will be thriving on New Year’s Eve, from the smallest drinking holes to the fanciest hotels. If you’re still looking for a place to celebrate 2013, here’s a roundup of traditional venues and a few wild cards that should do the trick.

The Club Scene

4th Street Live is offering its usual array of options at a variety of price points.

It’s free if you just want to hang out in the street, and in whatever venues aren’t charging a cover, just show up starting at 9 p.m. There will be live music, fireworks and a Times Square-like ball drop at midnight. A trip to the 2013 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles will also be given away.

Or you can buy a $30 package that gets you all access to Tengo Sed Cantina, PBR Louisville, Mosaic, Angels Rock Bar and The Sports and Social Club from 9 to midnight. Bump it up to the premium level for $70 and you’ll have access to a buffet at each venue from 9 to 10, a breakfast buffet at 2 a.m. at The Sports and Social Club, and an open bar at each venue from 9 to midnight.

Premium packages are available at www.missiontix.com for $70 through Sunday and go up to $75 on Monday.

Also at 4th Street Live:

Maker’s Mark Bourbon House and Lounge — Your big decision here comes down to choosing food or booze. There are two dinner packages for $65 per person, one starting at 5 p.m. and the other at 8. Or the $65 VIP package includes an open bar with premium liquor from 9 to 1. Tickets are available through Sunday at www.missiontix.com.

Howl at the Moon — Four packages are available at $75, $85, $100 and $125, with the only difference being access to standing room only ($75) or increasingly better seating. All packages include an open bar, appetizers and champagne toast, with the party starting at 7. To book a spot, call (502) 562-9400 or email louisvillesales@howlatthemoon.com.

Sully’s — This one’s easy. For $20, you get access to the club all night. For $60, add an open bar and buffet from 9 to 1, and a can of Red Bull, which you’ll need. The $60 package is available until Monday at 6 p.m. at www.buyblitztickets.com.

WFPK New Year’s Eve Bash at Headliners Music Hall, 1386 Lexington Road — The mighty Ladybirds will lead the toast, with sets from DJs Matt Anthony and Woodrow on the Radio. Doors open at 8 for free dance lessons from the Louisville Swing Dance Society, music starts at 9, with The Ladybirds at 10:30.

Tickets are $10 advance, $12 day of show, available at the venue or online at www.headlinerslouisville.com. This is technically a fundraiser for WFPK (91.9-FM), but program director Stacy Owen said that its low cost gets in the way despite selling out every year.

“We don’t really make much at all on the event,” she said. “My goal is to create a ‘warm fuzzy’ for WFPK listeners and members to thank them for a great year.”

Phoenix Hill Tavern, 644 Baxter Ave. — The Last Blast, from 8 to 4, is a rock party with Naked Garden, The OVER-REACTORS, Voodoo Avenue, Year of The Gun and the always awesome Rock Brigade. Cover is $20.

The Connection, 120 S. Floyd St. — DJ Lydia Prim will be spinning, and the La Boy Le Femme drag show, with Mokha Montrese, will get off at 10:30, 12:30 and 2:30. Doors at 9 and cover is $20.

Zanzabar, 2100 S. Preston St. — The Night Visions radio team of OK Deejays and Sam Sneed will spinderella you into submission. Doors at 9, music at 10, cover $10.

The Third Street Dive, 442 S. Third St. — The Dive is going retro punk with Little Rachel, who bills herself as the female Little Richard, and The Honeybees, a Chicago group into rockabilly and swing. Doors are at 8 and cover is $10.
